Greetings my friends.

It's been awhile since I posted, just working on my latest project.

I've had this happened twice recently. Id get comments "I think you're channel should have more views. Is subscribe to my channel, follow X rules I'll give you a shoutout. While I'm flattered that people think my channel deserves more views spam or not I think the fact that that in order to get a shout out you must oblige these set rules is nonsense. the freedom to decide to follow ones channel is powerful and awesome and shouldn't be forced by ways of bribery. I've made some shoutout videos expecting nothing in return Example Andrew W.K podcast review but the Video was uploaded on his website. That was a bonus. A special bonus. Anyway working on my next video about my thoughts on the new Ghostbusters reboot so I'm excited about that !

Stay Positive!

Shoutouts shouldn't be forced. Or else, it's just a blatant attempt to get something in return. If I ever wanted to shoutout, I would just pick a channel that I find fun and interesting and would love to share with my audience. If they choose to shout me back, then great. If not, it doesn't change how I felt about their channel.

Cool to hear you got a positive response from the podcast!

The only shoutout I heard that worked was the one PewDiePie did for JackSepticEye

most of the time it's garbage, never join unless you want a big number with little results.

I've seen some people try to set these sorts of things up but even when they have the best intentions I still consider it to be a pyramid scheme. In my opinion the most valuable shoutouts are the ones in which someone is compelled to say what they're saying about the channel because they genuinely enjoy it.

This happened to me too! Some random commented on my WYER In Da Hood video saying that I deserved more subs, flaunted his 900 subs and basically said to do the whole shoutout thing and I looked into said video and it was basically a lottery used to give that dude subs

Only thing that works with full success is being on the front page of search, with a top title and thumbnail. I am rubbish at the latter 2 but steadily learning how to get on the front page of search. But when you get there it is glorious. Even with bad thumbnails and generic titles.

Just focus on yourself. And keep the your making videos like you already got 10 millions subs, because when you do they will go back and see the videos you make now .

I hate these kinds of people, I got approached once. To get a mention (sorry, I refuse to use words like SO but they have no meaning to me) you had to subscribe and put a comment on each and every video he had done. That was like 70 videos! Then if he give s you mention, it's for a half minute on a video which people are only watching to comment on it so they can get a mention later down the line, while he rakes it in! It's a real scam, pyramid, ponzi, or madoff, however you want to phrase it.

Nobody solicits to give shoutouts for the benefit of YOUR channel, only for their OWN channels. Telling people to subscribe so they can get a shoutout is of great benefit to the shoutout channel (in terms of subscribers, but it can become a nightmare because a lot of people expect shoutouts right away and get very angry when they don't get them) and gives the shoutout-ee a boost in subscribers on the day of the shoutout, but then...not much else.

It's the same thing for almost all artificially-inflated channel schemes. Giveaways, sub4sub, shoutouts....it's all just an exercise in collecting susbcribers who are also YouTubers who will spend more time trying to promote their own channels than paying much attention to yours. The people you want to subscribe and watch are the folks who don't have anything in it for themselves...viewers who just come to YouTube to watch content and not to try to do the exact same thing you're doing.
