Sony Vegas, recording commentary in timeline

I Love YTtalk
I did some researching and know how to do it but for some reason, I keep clicking on the button and it won't start recording (turn red). It's the button/circles in the upper left-hand corner of this image.
I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum (Build 322) and a Blue Yeti microphone.

I use Vegas 12 and I had no idea you could record directly into it :)

I usually use Audacity, then clean up the audio in that and export into a wav file to import into Vegas.

I know it doesn't help with your immediate issue, but could be a work-around if you can't figure out the problem.

You can record commentary through the timeline? Well, I did not know that  I usually just use Audacity!

I found this official Sony page. I go to Options/Preferences and it won't allow me to change the 'Default audio recording device'. I even plugged an audio-technica into the front recording jack to see if that was the issue. Previously, I was using a Blue Yeti that has a USB cord.
