Something I noticed about Custom Urls

CoolMoo5

I Love YTtalk
So with the custom urls. I noticed something. Since google+ and YouTube are connected with the url thing. Anyone who has a custom url for google+ now gets a /c url of the same name.

These a few popular YouTubers who had a google+ with a custom url for a long time and now they have a /c url. I'm pretty sure they didn't go in and get this themselves so that is why I know is automatic.

youtube.com/c/hankgreen
youtube.com/c/johngreen
youtube.com/c/shanedawson (note: youtube.com/shanedawson goes the ShaneDawsonTv channel)

Interesting. So anyone out there who has google+ with custom url they got in the past you now a /c url for the YouTube channel connected with it. Try it out if you do.

we are loyal to google so they reward us with a custom uri for our loyalty, its not hard to please google just try it and you'll see a big difference.

Google+ has always confused me - I guess I should probably figure it out now lol, just in case that'll get me an extra url? Although my channel is still custom because I've had the account for so long...

Unfortunately I merged my G+ account with my channel when they did that a few years ago (I made my channel in 2011, only started actually doing YT a few months ago) so I lost the ability to do that =\

But I'm happy with my current URL, so I'm not too worried about it.

I just checked:

/c/chottomattenet

and got this:

This account has been terminated due to repeated or severe violations of our Community Guidelines and/or claims of copyright infringement.

So it is either a YouTube bug or somebody was trying to impersonate us and got banned. Interesting!

Maybe you typed it wrong. I just did it and went right to your channel with no problems.

I just copied pasted it:

May be if I am log as myself (chottomattenet) I see this bug. In anyway it is not a big problem. :)

When I click the link you posted it says the account has been terminated. But when I type it in myself or click the red box on yttalk (which uses your /c link to your channel if you didn't know) it works perfectly fine. Weird.

Mystery solved - I combined user with c = /user/c/ . It must be either /user/ either /c/ . In anyway - the error message should be that there is no such channel (or something similar) and not that the channel was terminated. Definitely a YouTube bug. :)

I looked at your link and you are right. It is either /c or /user but not both. The cool thing about /c urls they also work with the rest of your channel (unlike a vanity url) so you can do /c/videos and /c/about and it will all work. And it is good you figured it all out and you channel isn't really terminated.
