Smooth Slow Motion Shots

So I was messing around with the idea of a video where dubstep and gardening are combined. For this though I would like rather slow, smooth and high quality slow motion cut and I am wondering how I can get that done. I can borrow my friends DSLR and have Sony Vegas (10 I think). I know I have to record at 60 frames per seconds to get it smooth but am confused on how to work with it in Sony Vegas. Any ideas or suggestions?

I do 120FPS or 100FPS with my GoPro and then just slow it down in the editing software. It should be pretty easy in Vegas, I don't use Vegas though so I can't really help you out here.

Thanks Guys. i have a rather okay camera with only 50 FPS so i cannot do that although i think ill rent a camera for this video and when maybe i get some funds ill pick up a GoPro 3 (Really love the stuff you can do with it <3) .

ill check them out. For now i found a Plug In which gives really cool Slow motion.

In Vegas, once you put your clip into the timeline, hold Ctrl and drag the end of the clip to the right. This will elongate the clip and give you slow motion. If you drag to left, this will shorten the clip and speed it up.

If you don't shoot in a huge frame rate and still want a smooth slow motion effect, the new Final Cut has a frame blending feature which tries to fill in the gaps between the elongated frames. It surprisingly looks quite good. While it won't be particularly sharp, it is smooth and very useful for when you don't have or forgot to shoot in a high frame rate.

The iphone 5s actually has a great slow motion camera that will not become choppy when put into a video or uploaded online.
