Should you share a channel with a friend?

I've Got It
Before we start, I am not talking about trusting your friend with your youtube channel. I am talking about if it would be a good idea to share ONE channel with your friend or if you have a channel and your friend has a channel. We were wondering which would be a better idea. We thought it would be logical if the one main channel with you and a friend would have a higher subscriber/view count than one channel with just you or your friend. But, we thought if you combined the subscriber/view count with each other it would total up to be higher than if you made one main channel with your friend. For example, Main Channel = 10k subs OR Your Channel = 6k subs and Your Friend's Channel = 6k subs, whick combined = 12k subs. I stink at explaining but I hope you understand.

Please reply with what you think is a better idea!

Thanks for reading! Peace!

Sharing one extra channel doesn't necessarily lead to such a dramatic increase in your subs according to your partners subscribers. Remember your friend's subscribers like watching your friend's video. They might not like your videos.

But if you're using this to do some new and fun stuff with your friends (not just using it to increase your personal channel's views and subs) then GO FOR IT!

You made this thread 2 days ago...

That thread asked if you should tell your friends about your channel. This one askes if you should share a channel with a friend, or have 2 separate channels (1 for you, and 1 for your friend). I can see how it could have been mistaken though.[DOUBLEPOST=1373533588,1373533561][/DOUBLEPOST]
I read it wrong it's resolved now :)

Oh, okay. Thanks! :)

I don't know what to say, I personally don't like the idea of sharing a channel because maybe you tend to do videos in a style and he wanna do something else, so you may argue.

Sure, just look at Smosh.

Having a [reliable] partner is going to help your channel stay active and healthy. They can pick up your slack and vice-versa. Hopefully, you'll inspire each other. It certainly doesn't mean you have to do every video together.

And hey, if one of you decides you want a side channel, you're welcome to do that as well.

Ah, I see... Thanks!

I think two seperate channels are more valuable because you introduce your own subscriber to your friend and he also links to you so the viewers become subscribers of you both.
It is also possible to make a featured video together later on to introduce each other.
