I think people are more likely to subscribe if they can see how many subs you have, even if its a low number!
 
Such a good question! I have honestly had the same thought. That being said i agree with the other comments, be proud of the subscribers! View count is great but its the little sub number that matters. Let it shine bud!!
 
I'm a very nosy person, so although I never judge a channel based on their subscriber count, the FIRST thing I do after I've come across a video I really like is to check that channel's subscriber count out of curiosity. If it's a low amount of subscribers, but the channel seems to be active and it looks like they'll be making more videos, I get excited and subscribe immediately. If it's a really high subscriber count but their other videos don't look as interesting, I don't subscriber as I assume I'll be able to find them again easily. If their subscriber count is hidden, I usually don't bother subscribing.

I have sen some channels that have a lot of subscribers upload like once every other month and the video is awful or is only like a minute long =/ if i was a subscriber to a high channel and they uploaded a s**t videos that was a minute long after 2 months i'd be p****d -_-[DOUBLEPOST=1444180858][/DOUBLEPOST]

I think showing the count on big Youtube channels helps. A big number is an endorsement of the content. A small number probably won't dissuade a potential subscribe, they simply have less information about the channel. Displaying no sub counts provides no information.

Usually someone is going to watch two minutes of a video and be convinced by that rather than the sub count.
