Should I start again?

This is going to sound rather stupid, so I shall explain, or at least try too.

So I uploaded my first video in April, in the hope I would upload one video per week, however due to exams, a very busy summer, and now school yet again (such a joyous place..), I have only managed to upload a total of 11 videos in that time (2 were taken down).

Now, this may sound plain stupid, but recently I have thought of privating all of these videos, and starting from scratch again, re-introducing myself, and gracing YouTube with terrible videos more often, but the previous videos will not be on show. Why? I have a few reasons, well two:

- I am better at editing, so if I started again cuts etc would at least look slightly more inviting compared with a few months ago.

- Talking to the camera seems more natural, so again it would sound and look better than previous videos, such as my first vlog.

However I do have a few questions, firstly, is this a rational descision to make? I am aware it is my channel and I am allowed to do whatever I please, but I would like some input from you guys haha! And secondly, will I lose all my views if I private the videos? I did when I deleted them so I am not entirely sure if making them private would be any different.

I would like your input on whether you feel this is a good move or not, thank you very much!
 
I have personally started again, i kind of with i hadn't deleted my videos, because i realise now because people enjoy looking back and seeing how you have progressed from starting to where you are now.

What i would do if i was you (you can completely ignore me if you want)

I would make a video with content you intend to get out and during it start middle ende (whenever) briefly apologise for the lack of uploads and reintroduce yourself to anyone that may not know you yet.

Again that's just my opinion and like you say, it's your channel you can do what you like with it
 
I would've started again! :) as you haven't done that many videos but it has gone a long time :P
 
I'd look at your analytics over the last 30 days to see if those existing videos are bringing in any traffic via search. If they are and the videos have reasonable audience retention, then I would keep the videos public because they are acting as a gateway to your channel and that'll help you with your future videos which will take longer to get ranked. If not, then you might as well make them unlisted (but don't delete them IMHO)

I like Jamie's response. It is always nice for the viewers to look back and see the now videos for progression. In addition, that makes for a video! Vlog about why you were gone and everything.

Heey, to me it sounds like you want to start again, so go for it :)

Also, yes, you will lose your views. I lost mine from the videos I made private a few months ago, but you will get them back :)
 
Whats the point of starting again :) just make a video apologising or a video introducing yourself again :) then its like a fresh start
 
You need to ask yourself, do i really want it? If it is yes(what sound like it in your post) then go for it!

I didn't stop at all, but I had exams throughout April/May, then Summer I was barely at home, and I've been back at school for a few months now and havent had much time, I've been making videos the past few weeks however:)


Thanks for the comments, my analytics show I am getting views still (not many, 400 this month) but I like what you have all said, making a re-introduction video sounds like the best way forward definitely! Thanks, just needed a wee bit of guidance haha!
