Should I be discouraged?

I have 13 subscribers but the majority of them are friends. I wanted your honest opinion as to whether or not my videos are any good. Everyone I asked liked them but i'm not sure if they are being kind.

I know I am not going to please everyone and I know I cannot expect subs over a metter of a few months but I wondered should I carry on. I want to as I really enjoy doing but I want people to watch and like my vids.

I am going to be honest, Your channel is good and all BUT there are way too many gaming channels on YouTube now that it isn't anything special, to put it in another perspective..
Youtube is a job and the gaming section as been completely filled x
 
I certainly don't want too many gaming videos on youtube to put me off. Chances everythigs has been done by someone. I have a few other ideas I want to play with and i ha e taken some very helpful tips from the user's here on board.
 
I have not looked at your channel yet but I will take a look at it when I get home. The gaming channel niche is not so much about gameplay or strategy anymore. Yes that is what gets people to see you are first but it is your personality that gets them to stay. Think of all the big gaming channels out there and then go and listen to their videos. Do you notice they have really good quality videos and seem to grab your attention with their voices and dramatic (laughing, joking, over-the-top) commentary? That is the personality of their channel. You need to develop that so that more people want to sub and come back. I'm not saying that you don't have that but just something to think about and understand.

You shouldn't at all not matter how thousands of these are on YouTube. "You need to make it special on all of these thousands and it will succeed more."

You are good in speaking but your thumbnails are quite bad. You must improve them - there is too much black and dark in them. They must be more inviting to click.
Sorry I just had few minutes to check your channel - also keep in mind that you need to be able to generated long watch times - individual people watching multiple videos from your channel - so it may take a lot of time before the algorithm starts to promote you for retro games or whatever is your target niche.

I have recently uploaded a new vid and tried to improve my thumbnail. I'm not the most artistic person, can I have your opinion please?

 
Persistence, showing your colours and personality as well as social interaction is needed for more success so don't give up and do the channel for fun
