Short Scene Films

Whatever, I'm Getting Cheese Fries
Hey guys, me and a couple friends want to try filming a horror short scene, kind of like a paranormal activity style of filming. Do you think it is possible to do this with a vlogging camera? I have a Canon elph powershot 110 hs. Any ideas of how to make it the best quality possible?

why not
but a lot of takes are required from variety of angles to make it look professional and awesome

I would say that you may want to get a cam that shoots 1080p if you are serious about short films. I just did my first two and am editing the third.

I am planning to get a canon 60d.. maybe i'll save money during the summer to buy one since i am still in college and don't have many bills.

This is a great idea if you utilize the fact that you're on a webcam. Make that part of the story, because a) it's never been done to my knowledge, and b) it's relatable. Everyone has a webcam nowadays. Use that to your advantage.

You don't need a fancy camera to make something awesome. Just a great idea.

I'm sure it's fine! As long as we can see, it's all good. I'm gonna start doing kits and making short films using my vlogging camera as well. I have to Canon Powershot Elph 300hs!! haha.

If you're already looking into buying a DSLR, look for ones with the highest ISO possible. You may already know this but ISO settings greatly improve visibility in darkness albeit making this a bit grainy. Also, purchasing LED attachments are a must for a horror scene... so you don't have to lug around a flashlight while you're carrying a camera.

The thing with DSLRs is that lenses change a whole deal of things. Personally I would pick up a Canon T3i because you really can't do any better on the consumer market for those types of camera unless you want to spend 1,500+. You could possibly wait for a consumer level 2k or 4k camera, which may come out by the end of the year, but keep in mind they will not have as many features unless you get a really expensive model.
