It's pretty much a case of, we're in YouTube's sandbox, so they get to make the rules, and bend the rules as they see fit. There's lots of wiggle room in the language and the bottom line is that YouTube will take what they feel is the least risky option for them as a company. On the plus side for Shane, it's giving his channel and name lots of free publicity.

Mistake by Sony. The video obviously does not infringe CR. Lucky for Shane that he is a big Youtuber and this won't have any harsh effects on him.

Wow that sucks, it could be so easy for many companies can abuse the system to take down many other videos on different channels not just parody channel but other types of content too.

Haven't parody songs been done for... like decades now? I remember In living Color used to do them all the time.

Parody is a big part of entertainment in general. Is Sony then going to go after all the TV shows and movies? It doesn't make sense. I do think people abuse the system by titling things as parody in order to get away with copyright infringement but I don't think in this case it qualifies.

I managed to watch the video, and I don't think it's the worst he's done but it's probably up there with the top 10. I feel like Sony should just let it go back on I don't acc see the issue [emoji136]

Hmmm this is that fair use agrument all over again it the situation where the copyright holder can take somthing down if they dont like it as it still takes alot from the original source doing parodys is a risky buisness and he should of tired to contact sony and taylor swift frist its not what people want to hear but when so much money and work is involved you should really make sure everything is legally ready to go, the ball is not in shane dawsons court here.
