Serious discussion with Intense Hydra. Doing youtube for the money vs doing it as a hobby.

Right now I am no dedicated youtuber but love to earn a little bit of cash to buy small things. Small plug ins, extra gadgets to make filming easier.
On a later point I do hope to get more money from youtube to buy better equiptment and maybe hire actors and such.

Still there are different opinions etc.

In my eye's animators & directors will have a hard time making things. They will need a team & equiptment & Time. Animating can be very time consuming.
And for a short film you need help and equiptment. These people do deserver the cash for their work.

On the other hand I'm no fan of gamers personally but it's possible so I do a little bit of it to why not? Follow the mainstream for fun. But in the end I kinda hope this business get's shut down because other creators are drowning between gameplay videos.

I do it as a hobby, and I have just appiled for a job, so I won't really need the extra money if I get accepted for the job! :3

that might also be because there are so many people that notice the big gaming youtubers and want to start off that way rather than how youtube used to be where short films and animation were easier to find.

I think that is it awesome that I can earn money from a hobby. I really like playing the games, recording them, editing and finally uploading.

If a person does it for money, I don't think they put as much passion into it as they would if they really cared about the views they got rather than the cash they got, it would be aimed toward the viewers. Of course a person who started out YouTube as a hobby but has become a job for them, I have great respect for them. But people who come to YouTube purely to earn money and not enjoy themselves (apart from the enjoyment of earning money) are not enjoyable to watch. There is a simple formula EnjoyingMakingVidoes + Audience = EnjoyingToWatch ||| NotEnjoyingMakingVideos + Audience = NotEnjoyingToWatch
