Scripts.

Rouge

The All-Round Lad
Am I the only person here who has never used a script for my videos in my life? I feel rather lonely and I also have found that au natural is the best way to do things, gets your whole personality into your work.

I used to use scripts but now I don't because I want to show people that I am genuine. For me, if I use a script the video ends up sounding rehearsed and manufactured.

Most of the videos where I talk about what annoys me or just a topic video I just sit down, set up the camera and hit record :D For sketches though, I have to use a script otherwise talking to my clone won't make sense if all the responses are wrong :P On the first take it's made up then the second clone adapts to respond to the first take in a script :)

We script our adventure movies but not our candy reviews, even though we've been accused of scripting. The girls sometimes try out a line before we roll the camera so occasionally it sounds rehearsed.

Most of my videos are scripted. I used to not write scripts, but man, those videos were complete crap. I personally don't believe it makes my videos sound disingenuous, as I'm never talking about serious stuff in my videos, and am generally not in front of a camera. It's either some kind of comedy sketch, machinima, or behind-the-mic work. For me with those videos, scripts definitely help me get the product I'm trying to achieve.

The only videos I don't use scripts for is when my friends and I are dicking around on games, and I just show the highlights of those adventures. It'd be stupid to script those.

Do whatever your more comfortable with, I use outlines of what I'm supposed to be talking about to keep me on topic.

We never script. We just film whenever wherever we go/do. Sometimes we can add comments later to make the story slightly more coherent but even than we do not use script. Only once we tried a script but it end up in a fiasco because our "leading actress" decided that she can make the movie without reading the script.
Nevertheless I think that if you want to make more advance movies (to move to the next level) you do need a kind of script (unless you are making talking show). So may be one day we'll try again with script with more complex movie reacquiring shooting at different locations and explaining more difficult concepts.
