Scripted Videos

I never script anything, unless it's a school project. Even then, I add some extra things and such, I hate scripting things.

I prefer to have a script for my english stuff. Since it is not my main language I prefeelr to already know what to said to avoid being stuck in the loop of uhmms and ahems

I script my main content pretty heavily but it's a weekly gaming news roundup so I also plot out which footage to use, where to use it etc, for best effect. I like to have a solid script to work from so I can properly nail-down my ideas, clearly express any points I'm trying to make and generally keep things tighter and on-track. Scripting something necessarily makes it any more real or authentic than something unscripted, so long as you write honestly.

My Let's Plays are mostly for fun and completely unscripted on the other hand. You can't script a genuine emotional reaction to something that occurs in a game like The Walking Dead.

I script everything. EVERYTHING. I'm not entertaining enough to make it up on the fly...Some might argue I'm not entertaining period.

I can't be arsed to flesh out a full script. I'd much rather just write down some specific points, and work off of that. That's what I did in the past, and that's what I'll keep doing.

I write a very detailed list of bullet points that range from specific lines to *think of something funny here.* I've occasionally gone both unscripted and fully scripted but I prefer my happy medium.

Random is better. At least that's how I feel. The more random you are the more funny you will probably be. I think. Hopefully!

Some things naturally require scripts, such as cinematic\short film content or sketches. One of my shows relies on scripting mostly. I recommend the Celtx program which can handle screenplay scripting, A/V scripting, and a bunch of other things. They have some kind of Online suite that I'm not a huge fan of but the downloadable program works pretty much the same way it did in college so I'll be starting to use that again for certain things.

I generally have a guideline written down of key points/thoughts I want in the video and then I improvise around those ideas. I used to just do it without anything prepared but I found I didn’t make my points well enough in those videos so I thought I’d make it a bit more structured. I actually enjoy writing down ideas for videos and developing them, I wouldn’t call that script writing though.
