Screen capturing and recording for LONG vids help!

Hey, super newbie at screen capturing here. Was thinking of making some tutorial vids, or speed draw type videos, but I can't seem to figure out what software would be best.

I want something that can record LONG segments, (I could draw for an hour or two, and then edit it and speed it up etc) I tried fraps but it just went mad with the file size, and was just crashing when I tried to play it. so something that keeps file size a little better would be cool (I always convert to MP4 later anyways)

I don't mind paying for the software, if its worth it, and it doesn't need to record sound at all, since it's all visual that I need, and I have a mic for that if I ever need it.

Maybe try OBS, i think it's a pretty good one, or something like Xsplit

I don't know much about windows software but I heard Camtasia's pretty good, but jesus $299 for a window user... try dxtory.

If your computer has Nvidia gpu, then use shadowplay, will work just fine for long records.

OBS is great, I think dxtory only works for games but I may be wrong

A very cool app for screenrecording (and not only) is ***** catcher, I'm downloading the update right now xD

I recorded till 2 hours no stop with no problem then I stopped because I was worried about a computer crash xD

Another cool app is super but it is a little more complicated to use =)

Got to agree with this one. ***** Catcher never left me on foot so far.

DXtory doesn't do desktop recording. I'd say Shadowplay if you have it available, or Mirillis Action.
