Taking over the world... ...one kid at a time!
Lately we have been getting emails attempting to scam us into giving up AdSense information (we haven't fallen for it). The email tries to tell you that your monetization has been disabled due to copyright violations, and claims you have to click on a link. DON'T CLICK ON IT.
These scam emails use the YouTube letterhead/logo and attempt to get you to click on a link that is set up to look like a Google AdSense link, but in fact it does not route you there. It's most likely an attempt to gain control of your AdSense account.
We knew this was fake for several reasons:
1. The email address it was sent to is not the one we have associated with our channel, and there are no videos linked to the email address.
2. Hovering over the alleged "Google" link you can see that it's actually set up to take you to another site (I won't list the site name here but it's definitely not a Google or YouTube link).
3. The subject line is suspiciously worded: "Monetization disabled for no reason", then the body of the email goes on to list the alleged "reasons" why the monetization was supposedly disabled.
4. If YouTube really wanted to disable monetization on your account, you'd already know it, and they certainly wouldn't send you an email telling you to click on a link!
Remember, you can always verify that your account is in good standing through your channel's status and features section. https://www.youtube.com/features This is the only thing that matters, not an anonymously sent email.
I wanted to share this scam information with everyone here so no one falls for it. If you get an email claiming to be from YouTube telling you anything that doesn't seem right, DON'T BELIEVE IT and DON'T CLICK ON ANY LINKS. Just delete the email.
