Hello!

I am looking for an honest review of my channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/KGATV), and in return I will review your channel!



Recently I've been trying to improve my channel, and make it the best that it can be. I seem to get a good amount of subscribers and an alright amount of view daily. My main struggle is audience retention, and that's something I want to work on improving. In the past 30 days my average watch time is 1:00, or 29% of the video. My goal is to boost my watch time to at least 50% in the next few months.

Things i'm looking to be reviewed are:
  • Branding: How's my overall branding on my channel? Do my thumbnails catch your attention? Does my banner, and avatar let you know what kind of channel I am easily?
  • Titles: Do my titles catch your attention? Are they clear what the video is about?
  • Sections: How are my sections on my channel? Are the playlists categorized well, and easily to navigate?
  • Video Quality: How's the quality of my videos? Are they clear, bright, and focused?
  • Video Content: How's the content of my videos? Do I ramble on about things too much? When are my videos entertaining vs. boring? Where do you begin to loose interest?
  • Descriptions: Are my descriptions easily to read/navigate or is it overwhelming?
  • Anything else you'd like to include.
Please give me your honest feedback on my channel, and videos. Where do you think I should improve on? Please provide any suggestions where you see fit.

Hi KG! I popped into this thread earlier and gave it a stare then popped out to go watch things.

I'm not looking for a review of my channel since other then attempts to make our most recent video more creative we haven't really done much and the channel itself is still a work in progress when it comes to thumbnails and our cover art and stuff, but I wanted to review yours! If you want to review our Minecraft video, though, that's completely up to you!

  • I liked your cover art. It's simple text-wise, as you have your name and your # in a very easily readable font and size in the middle. Art-wise in my opinion it has a very neat picture. Some people might not like blurry or unfocused screenshots, but I liked it due to both the different colored lights in the background as well as the reflection on the ground closer to the bottom.

  • Your titles are clear on what they are about, even if they say something just like "Can you not". They made me think "Huh, what's this?" and click into them to watch. I also like the thumbnails for your videos, with the different fonts and colors.

  • Section-wise, I like how you sorted everything into their own playlist for easier access. They were indeed easy to navigate and categorized well :)

  • Your video quality is great! I don't see any issues with any sort of blur or out of focus moments.

  • For video content: I don't know if you've noticed it or have had other people notice it and comment on it, but I am one of those people who will watch whoever is speaking and then stare at whatever their surroundings are. I don't mean to sound rude or anything by saying this but you have a LOT of background space! It's distracting to me because it just seems so big and empty.

  • This will sound corny, but video edits catch my eyeball. Bloopers, too! I'm not saying go crazy with them, but sometimes they help out with the attention span.

  • Your descriptions are very clear and easy to read and aren't all over the place.

I'll be honest, I started watching Zoella, PointlessBlog, Jim Chapman, Thatcher Joe, and a couple of other people because they did games, challenges, tags, impressions, in addition to having interesting vlogs and updates. I think you're on the right track, but I don't know how long you've been doing this and if you've had any mass unsubscribe sessions or anything.

If something seemed hard to understand, I have issues correctly getting things out from thoughts into text so there's a lot of run-on sentences and stuff. Sorry!

Ah yes, the background.. I've noticed this before, and have struggled as to what I should do haha. I recently turned my old roommates room into my "YouTube Studio" room, so it's a bit empty right now, but i'm planning on getting some things to put in there. I would love to have a set up similar to sxephil. I do see what you're saying, and it does bug me when i'm looking at my videos lol.

Adding bloopers.. gotcha! That's a good idea! I enjoy when others do that, I should do the same.

My one complaint is that you said 35 would be scary, and I'm not far from that. No actually, I liked your editing. It flowed well and there weren't any lulls. There was some humor. Good personality. Don't normally watch vlogs, but watched yours all the way through, so that's good. I don't really need a review, I know we are hilarious. JK, if you want to review something, check out our new intro on our latest vid and tell me if its good or too long. Other than that, keep up the good work.

Haha I don't handle age well. I freaked out when I turned 18, 20, and now 21 lol. xD I know 35 wouldn't be that bad, but it's just kinda weird thinking about considering my parents are only 5 years older than that.

Yay I'm glad to hear you watched it all the way through! Something I struggle with is audience retention. Mines usually pretty bad. (My average is 29%) So to hear that makes me very happy.

I like your intro! Though I feel like it may be a little too long, though it's not bad!
