Render video as .mp4, .mov, or .wmv?

In Vegas Pro 13 I use the Sony AVC codec to MP4. Although YouTube is like "WTF Codec is this?" and will say your video and audio might be unsynchronized, it's a filthy liar and it's what I've been doing for the past couple months at least. Works perfectly fine. It's the fastest codec to render (but of course - it's a Sony codec in a Sony editor).

I run Sony Vegas and render in MP4. I never had any problems, even though YouTube constantly tells me to render in a stream-able format because processing could take longer. Since I upload at night and processing is done while I am sleeping I don't really care to look at anything else.

I recommend you go with h.264 .mp4.

I agree that this is the best format. As for specifics, like bit rate and number of B frames, I would check out this link: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en
