Reddit Question

Whatever, I'm Getting Cheese Fries
Hey guys this question is more for people who do vlog videos. To those who post there videos to reddit, what category do you post in under? I'm not sure what is a good category that will allow people to actually see my videos... reddit is such a weird website to me.

Before you begin to post, lurk more. If you don't understand how Reddit works, you should browse the website more ofter before trying to post. Remember that Reddit is a community that appreciates give and take, meaning you have to lurk and contribute to discussions and have a good score before your original content will be well noticed.

When you are ready you can post it in the YouTube subreddit, but since that is so big, you can find other more specific subreddits that will fit your videos I suppose.

Good luck on reddit!

Hmmmm… I’m a big fan of reddit for a lot of reasons, but the sections on YouTube aren’t one of them. I tried to utilise the subreddits when I was first starting out and I found it very hit and miss. I also got a fair amount of people basically asking for sub4subs and I didn’t want to get involved in that. I am not saying don’t use it, but I wouldn’t expect a big response from it.

I would say to spend some time learning the site a bit more as well before you go promoting yourself.. Reddit can be, let’s say… not a very nice place at times and it might actually do more harm than good. Just be weary.

I honestly don't see any vlogger who gets any views on their posts on reddit. Plus the fact that they don't like you posting your own stuff because they frown on self promotion.

Reddit is very harsh on self promotion. If you are to post something, it better be top notch quality and hit the right niche. Replying comments with highly relevant videos may also work. Though, successful Reddit posts have gotten me good spikes in my statistics.

I'd say that it wouldn't be relevant in any of the default subs (namely videos), unless there is something particularly interesting or groundbreaking/unexpected that happens in the vlog. Otherwise, try doing a search for vlogs, and see if anyone has had success in small subreddits. Unfortunately I think you may be hard pressed to find an are that is both sufficiently relevant, and at active enough to be worth it.

thanks guys for all the responses. I just heard from other posts that people used reddit, and thought I would give it a try.
