Reddit, is it worth it?

Most will tell you that they've been getting hate from reddit. I'll tell you that it does absolutely nothing and nobody'll notice it.

Keep in mind who the Reddit community is, and brace yourself for it. That's really all I've got to say on it.

Reddit is really an active community so most of the time if you didn't get noticed, your post will just get buried.

Full of trolls, basicly. Many people have posted their content on reddit and ended up with haters and trollers completely screwing up the stats.

Reddit is a very, very fickle beast and you will get your posts downvoted and possibly banned from posting to the relevant subreddit if you break the rules. Many subreddits have rules against spamming, linking to videos, advertising, or other forms of self promotion for profit.

If you are going to promote on Reddit, I recommend you spend a few months becoming a redditor and learning the culture.

I will say if you're looking for a community of content creators, there is a small one over there. Obviously that isn't for advertising content, but is for learning more about Reddit and YouTube. They would be a great place to ask about the specifics of promoting on reddit and they can recommend subreddits that might fit your content well: http://www.reddit.com/r/PartneredYoutube/

What are the secrets to Reddit? I've literally posted all my videos there as they went up but I never got a single anything from Reddit. Probably because of the subreddit? There are just so much subreddits I'm not sure where to post my vid XD

I actually have pretty good experience with reddit, I only really post on a subreddit for let's play though. They're all a quite friendly bunch there, willing to help people out with tips and tricks

Lol I find /r/LetsPlay an awful place as it seems they enjoy downvoting one another in the hopes their own content will rise above... despite the rather small audience.

I've used reddit in the past and just today actually I created a new account using my real name instead of a random username. It's all about where you post, when you post and how often you post it..
  • if all of your posts are just links to your videos with titles that aren't 100% true, you'll get hate for it.
  • if you post at a time when people with the same interests (for example if it's a gaming video don't post it till the time schools and such finish) as people just browsing will down the video
  • if you only post your videos and don't actually use reddit, people will most likely not look at your content.
Reddit is just like any other forum really except its for EVERYTHING, like on this forum if someone comes on here and just spams us with links to their channel and such. We don't normally check them out and subscribe to them and they'll get banned. The same goes with reddit, except you won't get banned.

You need to make friends and try be active getting Karma :)
  • Comment Karma - where you get likes on replies and comments to other peoples posts.
  • Link Karma - where you get likes on posts you create.
If you get a higher Karma this will look good when people check out your profile on reddit to see your other posts and such, as they'll see that people are liking (or "Upping") what you post and comment :)
