recording and editing advice

Hi i am trying to record game play from my xbox one with the elgato hd60, but i can record voice or any game sounds at all. if you know how to fix this let me know. Also i Have astro a40 headset. i want to use it to record my voice when editing as well, but when i plug it into the headphone jack on my laptop it doesnt do anything. lastly can anyone suggest editing software that is free? thanks!

Regarding using your Astro headset, go to your recording device properties and disable the other microphone and change the astros to become the default. To get to the Recording devices just click Control Panel, hardware and sound, manage audio devices. Or right click the speaker on the bottomright-hand side of your computer and click recording devices (windows).

Are you saying you cannot record any audio coming from the Elgato at all? No audio is being recorded?
