Really need some help!

Say Hi everybody
I record my video in mp4 and as they are usually fairly long the file size is too large to convert to wmv so therefore I cannot input them into windows movie maker to add my recorded commentary can someone please help me as I really need to have commentaries on my videos and I don't know how to do it?

What recording software are you using? On mine, you can choose the format, and therefore lower the size without really losing any quality. I would also get better editing software that can handle various file formats. There is also a piece of software (free) called 'Squint', which converts video.
 
Have you ever tried youtube editor?
I' think you could replace the original video audio with a new audio file.

So this might work:

Upload your gameplay video to private.
Record your commentary and rip the original game audio and put these 2 together. > Render too video because I'm not sure if you are allowed to upload audio files to YT.
Then go in the editor and check if you can replace the commentary audio+game audio under the gameplay.

I haven't tried this and don't use YT editor but opened it once. So you might want to try this and play a little.

I hope it helps otherwise maybe a converter and convert your file to a smaller size.
 
What recording software have you used and how big are the chunks? It sounds more like a system resource issue than an application issue with WMM not being able to handle large files (which media files generally are).
 
It is recorded with my camera, the video I last recorded was 550mb in 720p HD and was 8 minutes long. However has no commentary as I dont know how to add it and yeah I can't convert it?

Could you send me the link of the software, also how big a file can it convert?
 
I am downloading the software now will be back later to let you know if it works.

Thanks for the quick responses and all the help this was really important as I need to upload a video with commentary today.
