Ranking on Youtube/Google

Is it possible for a small youtuber to rank on the front page of google/youtube for POPULAR video games. For example rocket league? I've been able to hit the first page on youtube/google for my Gridberd and Towel Required videos. If you type "Gridberd Gameplay" and "Towel Required Gameplay" my stuff should come up. But yea i was just curious is it possible?
 
It's technically possible, but with YouTube, its based on things like audience retention % and watch time, interaction (such as clicking through to other videos, likes comments or dislikes even), SEO within title tags and description, total views, etc.

If you are small, you probably won't outrank the bigger YouTuber's for this stuff and I've only seen it happen a few times with EXTREMELY good SEO, and even then you may not rank at the top just because it's so hard to beat their interactions and other factors.
 
It's always possible, but it's based on viewer retention, views, SEO quality.
It'd be hard with well known games such as Rocket League. But it's not impossible, though it is unlikely.
 
You can still rank your video on the first page of search results targeting compound/long tail key words with low competition. I have a couple of smaller channels I do this for... search for a thread on here called "get more views using long tail keywords".
