Quick Question about game mods......

if i am uploading a gaming video that has a mod installed but not monetizing the content can i use it or do i need the mod authors permission to post the videos ? or do i simply need to acknowledge the mod creator and give them credit ?

Hmm... That's a good question! Never thought of that before!
I just use mods! I don't even think! I don't think there will be a problem :)
 
yeah that's what i thought but a guy has messaged me on the nexus mods (for skyrim) about how i am using his content without permission :(
i was just wondering where i stand and can he actually do anything if i am not profiting from his work :)

i have sinced asked him for permission and am waiting on a reply but i doubt he will say yes ( he seemed pretty p****d lol) if i have to remove the mod it is no big deal but it just got me wondering for future reference :)
 
You can monetize the video, as well, if you want to.
Most mod authors like that their games are being played, because they want to see people actual reactions to them and they help spread the word about the game a lot. I'd give em credit, tho.[DOUBLEPOST=1422915766,1422915724][/DOUBLEPOST]

i have just received word back from him and he said apologizes for being so abrupt and said i could use his content so i suppose i am clear either way. but thanks for the posts guys thought i was in trouble here lol

I highly doubt you would EVER have gotten a strike!
I've used a lot of things I don't own (Mainly music) and everytime I have gotten a message from youtube saying that I all monitized money goes to [Guy I stole from]. And then that is it! They would only give me a strike If I litterally told them to go to hell!
(Like of a guy asks you to take down a vid and you don't) But normally that just take the rights to that vid! And then that is it!

I have gotten 20+ copyright claims! But my channel is still set to: "Good standing"

well that's good news i am still new to you tube and thought this was a really serious issue thanks for the info and calming a newbie like me down :)

Wow! You're awesome! I can't belive you just started :D I see your channel going places in the future! (I'm serious)
Not many people can make that good content just starting out! Too bad I'm not into watching Let's Plays (Too long vidoes :P )
But of I ever (for some reason) would go watch a Let's Play! It would be someone like you! :)
