Question for the big channels

Small channels are always looking up to the big ones in awe, always asking how they did it, I am wondering, in what timeline did you guys do it? How long did it take for you to get 100 subs, 500 subs, 1k subs, 5k, 10k, etc? I think a lot of people who are starting out feel discouraged because it takes them a long time to get to certain milestones, so I think if bigger channels shared how long it took them, and what roadblocks they might have encountered, it would help out everyone. :) Or maybe I'm just crazy. :P
 
Well I started my channel in last december, I never thought I could reach 100 subs above!
Yeah I have to face lack of views, audio quality was poor, but I improved everything with the time.
Got lot of haters, discouraged me, I made friends on YtTalk who encouraged me.
In this journey everyone has to face ups and downs, KEEP MOVING is the best advice :)
 
I am not big, but I can at least give you an answer based on my numbers:
0-100 -> ~11 months
100-1K -> ~11 months

You can't really take that as a guide though. Some people just skyrocket, while others grow slow and steady (=me) or not at all (which is me at times as well).

Oh definitely, I've just noticed a lot of posts from all over the place with people feeling discouraged and whatnot, so I think it helps people to see that even the bigger channels didn't get that way overnight. :)
 
The first 100 subs for me were in the first two weeks before I actually did a video. I was already active on a few music production forums and I told people to subscribe my channel since I would start doing tutorial videos as soon as I hit 100 subs. ;)

1000 subs was in about two months after I started doing tutorial videos back in mid 2012.

I hit 12K subs after one year so that's around mid 2013...

Now in mid 2015 and I'm almost at 35K now. :D
 
I dont consider myself "big" but here are my numbers
0-100 = 2 months
100-1,000 = 3 months
1k - 5k = 6 months
5k-11k = 3 months

so in total it has taken one year and 2 months to get to 11,000 :)

good luck to you man! Dont get discouraged, just keep going!
 
You guys are doing great! :) I got my 25 this week and have been doing youtube for 4 months :) But I have some schedule problems still... only 7 videos so far
