Promoting on Facebook

So you can promote a page and pay for it on Facebook. You guys ever thought about doing that? Would it be good? Or would it only attack trolls etc or people buying you (dunno why they would do that) subs so your whole channel gets screwed?

Thanks! :)

Bad idea, because advertisement is the most people hated. They probably use Adblock and maybe your ad will not appear so it's like wasting your money on it.

It doesn't really work. I tried it. I finally gave up on the whole facebook thing. I have a personal facebook page that I put my videos on. My friends were the only ones engaged or paying attention anyway.

I created one too again after a long time but it's not really helping me. Well I dunno. Not even all my facebook friends are subbed so they don't really care about my channel.

I'm slowly getting into Google+ more. I think using Google+ like a facebook page in a sense is the best. Not just posting your videos on different communities but just posting on your page and making sure it's public.

I agree with this.

There are also a lot of communities dedicated to Let's Plays as well so you should be able to find a nice spot to promote your content.

Never was much of a Facebook person anyways.

If you set up a PCP campaign, adblock doesn't matter. You only pay when someone clicks your ad.

As for does it work, it all depends on what you are trying to advertise. Are you a gamer that doesn't have anything new to offer? Chances are noone wants to look at that ad. Or are you someone who gives tutorials, or things that people could use to better their lives? If it is something that will benefit your target audience then it will work greatly. If you are trying to advertise gameplay to a bunch of gamers chances are you won't see much traction. People might look but they won't stay.

I started my channel off promoting on facebook but it really isn't the best source for views/subscribers, currently I advertise my videos to 11,000 worth of likes in total and get about 20-30 views from that. Every little helps so I still do it along with other sources I'm working on.

While I think that using Facebook to some degree is definitely a good idea I would not think about ads a lot unless you have a really specific page set up and are fully dedicated to "entertain" people there. If your followers on Facebook don't interact with your postings a lot and on a frequent basis, the reach of your postings will go down. Not all of your followers will see it and therefore, some of the money you invested in the ads is basically useless.

I think the current (organic) average reach of brand pages is around 16% (so if you have 10000 fans, 1600 will see the posting - but it's usually higher for smaller pages). On some of our pages at work we get around 30% (and more if the posts go viral) but that's only because they're specifically tuned for higher interaction. Something a personal site can not always do - you might want to act natural.
