So, those of you who follow me just closely enough, you know I use my iPhone 4S for filming my videos. I'm getting studio lights and a canon HD camcorder!!! I'm excited to get these shadows out of my video and to finally have a dedicated camera. I'm getting the umbrella continuous lighting set from cowboy studio.com. I'm really not trying to show off, but I don't have people to talk to about this kind of thing. When did you get studio lighting? If you don't have it, what is your method for lighting right now?

Mine is currently two lamps from walmart using CFL bulbs with 13W.

Me and my girlfriend recently purchased soft box lights. They are amazing and light up the room. Makes the videos like 100x better. Well done for getting a canon too =]

Thanks, I used to have a JVC Everio Camcorder. Oops. This camcorder is under 200 bucks, films full 1080p AND has mic in, which was a must have feature for me. Now I can use my green screen and have people stop asking me if it's broken.

Oh and as far as your box lights, how do you like them vs the umbrella option?

I'll be honest with you mate when I was studying film I rarely ever used any form of lighting. Mainly natural light.
These are the first lights I've ever really used so I wouldn't know anything about the umbrella type lights. You'll have to post about them when you get them, see if I made a mistake =]

You can accomplish the same thing with lamps and tinfoil. It works almost better, I wish I had an example but I don't have a dedicated camera.

I use a $79 dollar camera that was a gift and two lights from Walmart, unfortunately. *smh* I plan on getting good lights and a DSLR one of these days...:)

I'm happy for you, can't wait to see how your new gear works out for you. :)

I've run with umbrellas and with softboxes, and I prefer the softboxes, as you get more control. I might use an umbrella for ambient light, and then a softbox for lighting the subject. But moving from tungsten to pro lighting is most of the battle :-)

I've been very impressed with the Canon camcorders - a friend of mine manages to get really awesome footage out of one :-)

I'm using CFL bulbs in my umbrellas when I get them. My main goal was just to get the Effing shadows out of my shot.
