Please review my channel!

Hey, thank you all powerful analyzers of this forum for reading this! I just started posting vids today so for those of you in the present there isn't a whole lot to review. So feel free to check it later on in this week if you need a larger sample size.

Thanks again!

Pros
  • You've got a banner. Good. Lots of channels don't seem to have that.
  • Your thumbnails are decent. Nothing extravagant, but they're not boring, and tell you everything you need to know about the video.
  • You've got a good voice for the kind of videos you do.
  • I like the fact that you have a personalized intro.
Cons
  • The color border around your gameplay videos. That needs to go, it doesn't look good.
  • I'm not a huge fan of the color scheme of your banner/profile picture, but that's just me. I've never been a huge fan of teal.
  • Speaking of your banner, it's too plain. It needs to convey what your channel is about, so someone who looks at your channel without glancing at your videos can see what it's about. Same with your profile picture, but that's not as crucial as the banner.
  • Your tagline isn't that great. If you're going to have one, have it be a little more descriptive/indicative of your content.

@Ylatten Thank you so much! I'll keep all this in mind and will probably make changes but if you don't mind lemme walk you through why I did some of those Cons on purpose.

The color border, originally I was gunna have a face cam but the footage from my first couple film seshes got all messed up. I was gunna have the face cam in one of the corners and thus I could line up the game-play footage with the other corner so it wouldn't cover as much of the game-play. I decided to keep the border to begin with though because it's unique, I consider it an alternative for watermarking. Putting watermarks on vids has been something that allot of people on youtube recommended to avoid people copying and reposting or reusing your footage without permission/crediting. I don't like watermarks so the border is kinda my version of a watermark. I'll still consider changing it and using a watermark instead if you really think this is a channel breaking problem but, for the next few days at least, I've already got my episodes edited.

The colors I chose because they're uncommon and stood out. That's really the only reason. Ok, that's not entirely true. I look ok in purple but I look terrible in bright colors, which I like. The alternative being blue but everyone uses blue, hence the purple. As for the teal, I was originally gunna wear a turquoise shirt but ... A. It didn't look good, and B. The footage of me wearing it got messed up anyways. But I still liked the color and I made my Bloodborne character's hair that color so I recycled it as my background color. So I'll probably do a color redesign some day but for now I think I'll stick with this.

The banner I will change! I agree that it's plain. I wanted to keep it simple but it probably is too simple. I had plans to put sprites (video game pixel-art figures) of myself relating to video game I'd played but I really only have Bloodborne, Fire Emblem, and the sprite from my channel intro so far. I dunno, it's a work in progress.

I'll definitely change the tag-line tho. I wanted to keep it casual. I want to be "me" on this channel and not pretend to be some grand, overly excited youtuber wanna-be. 'Cause that's not me. I'm fairly laid back unless I'm super happy or adrenaline is involved. It's a different kinda of humor that focuses more on improv and bad puns but I think there's probably an audience for it. I wanna Just be me, just entertain people. And if I get popular then so be it but it's not my goal. But yeah, the tag-line is a bit dismissive and vague so I'll change it when I think of something better and I have time.

I'll probably remake my Icon at some point. I dunno, was trying to go for the same simple design that matched my banner and video theme-song/intro.

Sooo, yeah, hopefully you can understand my decisions better now. Thanks so much for the feedback! You've given me some stuff to think about! Anything else from you or anyone else?

Your profile picture is actually good especially for a gaming channel.

I don't really care for watermarking, so that's up to you. I just think there's a better way to do it. Doing the color border seems cheap/amateurish, especially with the specific color. After looking at it a bit more, I will admit that it's not as bad as I originally thought, it was just jarring at first.

I like your banner alright, it's just the tag that's killing it right now. And like I said, the color scheme is personal taste. It's not bad, just me personally I don't like teal, but in the end it doesn't matter if your content is good.

Another note, you might want to use different sprites/character cutouts for each thumbnail or else it might get stale looking at your video thumbnails.

And a final note, you should set up your homepage. It makes your channel look a whole lot better, visually.

@Ylatten Homepage? What do you mean? I thought I already did, it's the thing with the banner right? Is there something I missed? I'm now very confuzzled. :/[DOUBLEPOST=1458768204,1458768185][/DOUBLEPOST]@Ylatten Homepage? What do you mean? I thought I already did, it's the thing with the banner right? Look at how my channel is set up. There's a featured video, playlists underneath, etc. It's not just a "Recent Activities" panel.
