Opinions on Jump cuts?

Yeah just to clarify I do actually use them in my videos as well, Jumpcuts > Transitions any day! I only use transitions for my ending to put the "click for the next videos" screen
 
I don't even understand why people get annoyed with jump cuts we need them. I guess when someone does it after every couple words intentionally or just like to switch from side to side of the frame, that's pretty annoying but other than that. Jump cuts rule! I love when people do jump cut illusions too.
 
It depends on what kind of video you are making. I make videos on scenery and I use both transitions. If I have "like type" scenes, I will use a jump cut. But if I move somewhere else, like inside for example, I'll use fades.
 
I find it nice when well done but I have seen plenty of people do bad jobs at cutting and it just does not work.
I use dissolve most of the time except when switching between graphics (so lists, titles etc that come on after the other).
 
Jump cuts are a necessity in my videos because kids pause a lot when talking. I remove all the quiet spots so the video moves along faster, but as a result there are tons of jump cuts. But, this isn't for a film project, these are candy and toy reviews.
