Good Day YTtalk!
So, you guys will be amongst the first to learn about my latest project, which I hope you all will find very interesting.

It's called OpenClab.

Basically, I want to start a collaborative channel, with as many people from around the world taking part.
It will consist of all kinds of videos, from challenges, randoms talks, showing and sharing cultural differences etc etc.
My aim is to have this as casual as possible, but with a big variety to grab the viewers attention and be as entertaining as possible.

What's in the deal for you?
  • More exposure for your individual channel.
  • Make YouTube friends
  • Brand building
  • Learn from others
  • We're going to have fun!

My website is currently still under construction, but you can check it out here. openclab.co.za

The website will include profiles of everyone participating in the collab - and yes, you will be able to create your own profile page, exactly the way you want it.

Please do not hesitate to send me an email: contact@openclab.co.za

Also, I'll be posting updates on the Facebook page I created a while ago, so be sure to check that out:
facebook.com/openclab

I hope to work with you guys soon! :)

Cheers

It sounds like a cool idea. But usually with collab channels there is 7 people or less, because of 7 days per week. If you had so many people, posting would be a nightmare.

Any chance you could elaborate on this "new approach"? Also, does the collab channel have a fanbase already? If you're offering us a chance to get in on the ground floor, that's awesome, but you can't guarantee exposure for channels if there's nobody established to expose it to. Does that make sense?

So basically, I had in mind to literally make videos with snippets from different people and make them into one, weekly video. (or even more).

And regarding exposure, it will have a chain reaction, as all those involved, no matter how many or few subscribers/followers a person have, they will exposure each other since they all have their friends, family, facebook, twitter etc. It will work naturally.

How will order of appearance be determined, and what kind of video length per weekly video do you anticipate?
The best method would be to work out a schedule... Even categorise by country, continent, etc. It can all be worked out. :)
I think about a 3-6 minute video is very reasonable, but obviously it all depends on the week's topic. Maybe even make more than one video each week.

Yes, I understand the concept is still very rough. That's why I don't mind if you all give opinions and ask questions - in fact, I highly appreciate it. That way we can try and make it as good as possible. :-)

But with all new things, you will never know, unless you actually try.

My questions are all completely supposed to be constructive. I've just realized I could have come across as being bitchy.
I'm really interested and excited by the idea, but curious about the details of how it might be run.

Hehe, not a problem at all!

Like I said, this is all just a rough idea of what I want to do and still need some serious fine tuning.

Cheers.
