'Older' YouTubers?

I turned 59 less than a week ago. I'm not sure this affects how my content is received however, since I avoid "facecam" like the veritable plague. As a hypnotist, my strength is my voice; as a musician, my strength is in the "unusualness" of my sounds.

And I'm older than the majority I am guessing - I'm 40 in a couple of weeks time.

I'm 34. I think it depends a lot on your content - I'm a new starter but as my content is gaming related sans facecam, I doubt people particularly notice.

Some of the big players in that space are in their 30s too - TotalBiscuit, Jesse Cox etc

I'm an oldie! 43, I do think it affects my viewer demographic. I also think my content affects the demographic. However, there are lots of young DIYers with lots of young viewers.

As for comments, me having a a largely 35 to 55 year olds audience does make my comments more mature. I don't get a lot of nasty or snarky comments. I get really sweet and thoughtful remarks.

I see a lot of young youtubers channels get some very ugly comments. I think the maturity of the viewer is key to that.

I am 56 and the niche I'm in requires my face to be on camera. I have 27K subs and 8+ million views. Analytics say my largest age group watching is 25-34. Maybe I'm like their 2nd dad. :)

Wow with all that power ,I thought I would check you out and Youtube says your channel does not exist

34 here... I do what I want to, don't care about being the top dog and getting millions of views a month. It's an awesome hobby, and I get to connect with a bunch of people. So I am not thinking about my age being a deterrent at all. Content rules. Personality rules. Obviously I am not the mister fantastic at 1.6K subscribers after over 2 years. But that's fine... No worries from me.
