Not having a niche?

Loving YTtalk
So, I want to explain something about me and my channel. I don't like the whole idea on my channel having a niche, I like it being multi purpose. I like doing gaming videos, or making vlogs, or sometimes comedy skits (which I haven't gotten to yet.) Point being, I don't want to stick to one thing. It seems very boring to me and I don't want to make 7,142 different channels for all the types of videos I want to make. I wanted to know if this will be a problem for channel growth on YouTube. I have playlists set up and my channel is organized for the different types of videos, but for some reason could this type of thinking hold back any potential growth my channel could have? Thanks for any and all responses!

I don't see whats wrong with having a multi-niche channel. If it doesn't work out or become problematic, you could make a specific channel with a certain niche later on and ask your subs to go there.

If you upload lots of stuff that people didn't subscribe for they may unsubscribe. It depends all on the amount of videos subscribers still enjoy to watch even if they came for something else.

I'm gamer-based but do rants as well so I think all sorts can co-exist; I believe your channel is ultimately about YOU, and with whatever you do on it. Nearly everything I watch of others is usually down to who they are, first.

I would say having a multi-niche channel is an acceptable way of running a channel, though you will NEED a regular upload schedule for each of those niches.

So you can upload content regularly without driving away viewers.

Example.
Vlogs = Daily
Video Game Content = Daily, Few days out of the week, Weekly.
Skits = Weekly, monthly

The only one I didn't give much options for in terms of uploading, is Vlogs, purely because if you want to be seen as a vlogger, you practically have to upload daily.

I've run into a similar situation except that I didn't adhere to an upload schedule so it has been a bit problematic just because my subs go there not really knowing what to expect and thus my views suffer quite a bit when I post something different such as my speeddraws. So basically I agree with Super Pawsitive on this.

One reason that people separate their channels is so they can have their channels on different networks. Gamer channels, for instance, join networks that can help them get past copyright/licensing issues as without that you can't monetize videos where you show off others' games. A vlogger, however, might prefer the terms of a different network that focuses on helping you meet others similar to you.

Moved this to the startegy forum.

The problem you'll be up against is that the perception of your channel will be that you're a Jack of all trades but a master of none. Whether that's true or not doesn't matter - but that will be the first impressions when people browse your videos and that could turn some people away :)
