No/less ads on Youtube?

Hi there,

I noticed that the last couple of weeks (maybe longer) I don't see much ads in youtube videos anymore. Not in my own and not in others like popular music videos. No prerolls, not even an overlay ad. A friend of mine noticed the same. We both didn't use an ad blocker or something like that. Have you noticed it as well? If so, what's going on? I assume that there's a link with the CPM drop from January?

It might be where you're located. Here where I live, I've noticed a great amount of Ads recently, varying from Music ads, to products ads. I don't see YouTube completely getting rid of ads, simply because that's what makes them a profit. I guess just consider yourself lucky that they haven't been spamming you with ads, sadly, like they did to myself.

God Bless,

Yes that's one way to look at it, the other way is that my CPM is really low compared to 2015 and I'm wondering if the no-showing of ads has to do with it. I live in the Netherlands, but 70% of my views come from the US.

i tried to figure out what is going on. initially i thought it is a new glitch on YouTube servers. Then i thought that it is some kind of copyright infringement on my videos but recently i noticed that ads returns again after some re-opening. i feel that YouTube is playing with audience psychology and how frequent the viewer interact with ads. If a viewer watch a channel video first time the ad will be shown but if he/she close that channel due to annoying ads then the ads will not come next time. it will come after certain openings.

and this also applied on your channel and on you as a viewer for your own videos. this is the reason why most of us dont see so much ads on our channels nowadays. but i am not 100% sure.
