New description and re-tag all old videos?

Hazzador

I Love YTtalk
I recently discovered that keywords in descriptions actually help you in terms of youtube SEO, and i also know that my tags in older videos aren't that good. should i go back and re-do this to help my other videos out? Im king of worried this may damage my videos cos they will go back to the bottom of search engines or something..

Ok, I checked out your channel. And since your best video is at ~600 views at 2 months old I would just go for it. I don't think it will make much of a difference though. You are swimming in an ocean full of krill, and the top places have long been taken by some very big whales.

Yoooooooooooooooooooooooooo what keywords help you out in getting found? Like feel free to message me some of them cause I'm always looking to improve my tagging game haha

People on this board reported previously very good results after updating their thumbnails and tags.
I think it is worth trying. Just keep in mind that the most important tags are actually the one in your title and may be the first one or two sentences of the description. The real tags usually have secondary importance (but of course you must pay them attention too).[DOUBLEPOST=1444095187,1444094868][/DOUBLEPOST]

Very well put. The only good news is that many of this whales became whales simply because of skillful use of thumbnails and tags (titles). So there is still some chance for the krill to become big especially if YouTube gets some real competition (from Facebook for example) and finally is forced to improve its algorithms! :)

Yes, change it but make sure it's in natural language and not just choppy words that mimic tags. That's how you get videos removed. A lot of older you tubers knew that trick and had their videos disappear.

I use loads of tags about the game I am playing and stuff, but im not sure what advice i can give to a vlogger sorry :/

Definitely, on my old channel I changed the title and tags on my most viewed video after leaving them for a while, was able to jump from 7mil to about 8.5mil views in the next 2 months!

I'd delete and repost with new tags. I find that changing tags can kill a videos chance of taking off. Based on your current view count it doesn't seem like you're loosing a lot.

I agree with DutchTexan when he said tags are relevant if you have a good number of views per month.
