The part I don't under statand and I think is sceary to do if I don't ask is, when you make your new URL do you have to type like: youtube.com/channel/[somthingnew]? or just [somthingnew]

I'm not sure, but you should probably try just [sometingnew] first it'self and if it's wrong, and if it is that means it has to be a url so it will be typed out as the full url
