My First Interview

TinHatRanch

Posting Mad!
Until now I've filmed my channel from my basement "studio" or at the Tin Hat Ranch. Last Friday I was in North Dakota and went to a decommissioned nuclear missile control bunker and interviewed a Missile Combat Crew Commander. The guy was very interesting but going on location and shooting a video was taxing. I only had about 2 hours and had never done it before. I couldn't bring lights with me and only a single camera and mic. It made for some interesting editing. Has anyone ever done an interview? Do you have any tips?

Awesome video - I watched the whole thing. Fascinating subject and I thought Mark explained things really well.

The production quality was top notch. I loved the intro when you were driving up - It really set the scene. Do you have training in making documentaries / short films? The whole thing was really professional

The only slight negative I could find was there was a bit of hiss in the audio during Mark's interview. The overall audio quality was good though - I could hear and understand everything being said. Maybe use the "noise reduction" feature in audacity to get rid of that?

Good job!

I agree, the audio hissing is a problem. I don't know how that happened and it is a byproduct of putting videos together on a very tight budget. I don't have any software to deal with audio other than the software in my cheap video editing stuff. I use the same mic other times and don't have that issue as well. Maybe it was all of the lights in the place or some clandestine equipment, lol. I don't have any training in making films, just watching youtube videos and making them. I didn't realize this but that was my 50th video.
