Ban abusive YT trolls or ignore?

Unfortunately YouTube is full of people like this and they are going to throw things like that at smaller channels, even if your son did nothing wrong they will find some reason to "hate" on him.

Best thing to do in this case as someone mentioned before was to add a filter to the comments section, ban words such as f**k and anything that you would find offensive, if they manage to bypass that I would simply just ignore them, delete their comment and/or block them simple as that.

As his channel grows and continues to do this he will attract both positive and negative feedback even if he did nothing wrong and thats just the way YouTube works unfortunately.

So is the consensus to ban trolls or just ignore them and hope they get bored?

My worry is banning them they could just create more accounts and cause more damage due to being antagonized (from being banned).

You should take advantage of the comment filtering system so YouTube can detect certain words and make them not appear in the comment section.

I always delete and block the channel if they leave really unnecessary rude comments like that.

I'm going to repeat the point "comment filtering" is the way to go.

But it is also a life lesson that there are people out there that will make hurt-full comments at others expense because they see it as "fun" and he is your son and you rightfully want to protect him, but i do suggest talking to him a bought it when you feel he is ready.

Great. I chose the 'ban user' option from the drop down menu next to one of his comments. His name then appeared in the comment filter section in the Banner Users field. Have I done that right?

Or do I need to head over to his channel and 'Block User' him?

If on the flowing page under the field that says "Banned users: Never show comments from these users" then you have done it right and shouldnt have to worry a bought that user.

You should also put inappropriate words in the "Blacklist" section. for example c**k,f**k.. and any other words that aren't related or offensive.

Obviously, a 7-year-old shouldn't be getting such s**t, so yeah, although I hate censorship, I'd say it's fair to ban such comments.
Well my immediate question is, why is a 7 year old even on YouTube? There's a reason why YouTube's TOS limit the age to 13 and older. I think 7 is far too young to have a YouTube channel in the first place.
Well, why not? If the kid wants to make videos, let him. It's not like it can harm him or anything.

Done all of the above.
