Microphone Volume

I've Got It
Can someone help me? I wanted to do commentary, and i did, and while i was recording with fraps, everything went fine, i lowered ingame sound a bit, and incresed microphone sound, so that they can hear me better when i post it on youtube.

But when i wanted to see how it all got out, i was so quiet, well not that quiet but it wasn't loud enough. I'm using this mic:

i know it's not that good, but i figured out it will come in handy. obviously not, so if anyone knows how to increse the volume, let me know! Thanks!

I always record my sound and video seperatly otherwise your ingame sound takes your video over. I use Fraps for recording video and audacity to record sound. I also couldn't find the solution to fix this but this is what I'm used to now :)

I use Screenflow which records the audio into the same software but on seperate tracks so that you can adjust the game and voice volumes individually. Perhaps if you can afford it look into downloading a similar PC software that does the same thing?

Thanks, will try. Just 1 question. So basically, on what princip does it work? I press the key button for fraps and key button for screenflow, and show can start? =D

I just saw, is it MAC only? I'm using PC, so i think this won't be of much help will it? Anyway, thanks.

Yeah it's Mac only :( it records screen, acts as an editor and records sounds. It's a catch-all program. It's great cos otherwise we wouldn't have anything to record with!

how does this work, i don't get it?

can i record my voice with it while fraps is on, so both programs working at the same time or?
Audacity is a simple and free audio recorder.

So you pick your settings in FRAPS to only record windows 7 sound, no mic.

And in Audacity, you set it to record your microphone. Hit record.

From there it's just a simple matter of making a sound or something else obvious at the same time as you begin FRAPS recording. Like for example, snap your fingers in front of the mic at the same time you click FRAPS record. This way when you do your video editing, putting the audio track in, you have an easy spot to sync the audio and video together at.

And then you can adjust your mic volume to your hearts content because it's a separate track.

Pretty much everything that's been said here. Fraps and audacity would be the best way to go.
Do keep in mind however that if you go down this route, you'll need to do further editing to render both files together.

This will increase the overall time spent messing with files, but does mean you can control your audio levels properly.

That said, once you get the editing down and aren't doing major stuff other than just matching audio to video, it shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes.
