Microphone Tips for a newb?

I Love YTtalk
Hey guys, I just really started making videos a few days ago and I really like it. The only issue is my mic. I figured out how to get rid of static, but it still does not sound the way I want it to. How do you equalize the voice so there are no spikes in waves, and how do you make your voice a bit heavier?

Watch some of my video and you will see what I mean: /watch?v=GtHnFrttP0A

My microphone is pretty good, it was a $45 one.

Microsoft HD-5000 Webcam

SOFTWARE I USE(if it helps):
Audacity
WavePad Sound Editor, Free
Windows XP

I have a Microsoft Gaming Headset with a good mic. It was really cheap actually.

first of all love the profile picture Milo right? xD and mess around with the audio setting within in audacity, and make sure u have a pop filter for your mic, will help that out, look up tutorials on how to work with your audio, cause its quiet tricky to get right! hopefully this helped!:)

FISH HOOKS FTW! And what's a pop filter?
I've been following tuts but I still don't feel like I have my settings just right. Guess I will experiment more with it tonight.

If none of those work you may just have to buy a new mic, I bought a blue yeti mic which was around 100 bucks and is pretty and awesome, If you want a mic that works for gaming also though i would recommend Turtle Beach X12's which are just around as good and a little cheaper! Sorry i dont know what to do about the static though there are some alternative choices :P

Yeah, I followed giski's tut and I think my mic is a bit fuzzy or I am too loud. Time to invest in a new one!

Hellz yeah that show is awesome, as a 17 year old I would gladly sit down and watch it lol, and a pop filter is sort of like a cover for your mic, which would stop words with the letter "p" like crackling and braking, im sure you know what I mean! Im not sure if your mic has one or not but it might be something to look into!:)
