Messaging Larger YouTubers

If it was a huuuge YouTuber and I really wanted my message to be read, I would actually send a hand-written letter to their PO box (if they had one). These people get hundreds of online messages per day, but probably only a few real letters and all the real letters will be read IMO.

Depends completely on the person as well as what you send! I've had some luck in the past asking questions.

I know a couple of them that are pretty good at responding (in the Minecraft community anyway). Coestar almost always replies at least once via Twitter and it's very clear he reads comments. A few others are good about it as well, but most don't and can't say I blame them. If they have 10k or more subs, that's a lot of potential messages flying at them. It's virtually impossible to reply to all of them so I think most take the stance that they'd rather not try and pick and choose who to answer.

Meeting them in person is better, ive met much bigger youtubers in person and they have actually taken my phone number to do future projects with me

I have left comments for bigger youtubers that have been commented back on and have tweeted youtubers with like 40 or 50,000 subs and have had a back and forward conversation but never actually messaged them personally. Not sure you would get a response would you?

I've had responses from people at the lower end of your 20k-100k sub range, but never messaged anyone with 50k+ that I can think of. I suppose it depends what you write, if it's an essay or a blatant attempt at personal gain without giving anything back then you're going to get ignored, but if it is something sensible and related to their content I would hope for a response.

This all assumes of course that they don't get so many messages that they've turned off email notifications and never check their YouTube inbox...

Got a youtuber with about 60K subs to watch one of my videos and comment on it. I sent a PM to him about a response vid to one of his videos, and he commented being angry about YouTube removing the video response thing.

I have tried to have a discussion with a YouTube channel with over 100K subs and it has been fruitless. On the other hand, when I have commented or messaged Video Creators, who has 6500 subs, he responds.

In general, you're going to have more success if you don't try to pitch them an idea or a collaboration. Just write to them as a fan would and you're likely to get a response. I usually respond to any email that isn't demanding. The ones I ignore are the ones that are pushy and overstep the boundaries of how channels are supposed to deal with each other.
