My girl is starting her own channel and was thinking about doing Mincecraft videos and possibly some of the Mario games, like New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I know Mincecraft is ok, but what about the Mario games? Right now she's just starting, so she's not really thinking about monetizing yet, but I heard Nintendo sometimes posts ID claims on the videos. So my question is, how often do they do this, or do they only do this if you're monetizing the videos? The thing is, thinking ahead, I know she won't be able to get in some network someday if she does have claims in her videos and it would be a shame to have delete some of her very first videos when she was starting out. They'd be nostalgic by then. So can anyone give me some info here?
 
Make a Let's Play for Super Mario Legend of The Seven Stars. It is widely considered to be the greatest Mario game ever made. It was made by Square Enix.

Don't monetize videos featuring Nintendo's games. Nintendo doesn't like it and often file claims. Don't get your channel shut down.
 
Is that one gonna be ok without legal jazz? I think I still own it, and we got the AV cables handy. For the meantime, what about that Mario Wii game?

Nintendo as a whole will claim your videos, especially first party games like Mario. If you're not looking to make profit off of the channel, you should be fine. If you are, be cautious.
 
Hmm... but then what about all these other people I've been seeing making Lets Plays of New Super Mario Wii U and Mario 3D World? How are they getting away with it? Would she be able to monetize other videos, just leave the nintendo ones alone? would that be ok?

Ads don't always mean that a channel has adsense. The copyright owner has the right to add ads if the company claims your video.
 
So... they can still put ads even if the vids aren't monetized. I don't have a problem with that, but would that still show up as copyright claim?

Damn... geez Nintendo. So what happens to the people doing the Mario lets plays. Does Nintendo claiming them affect their standing with their network? How are they pulling it off?

What? If you're not with a Network then Nintendo will claim your video. You need to be with a Network that has a deal with Nintendo.
