Machinima or Curse

Hi

I have signed contract with Machinima for 75% split. I was about to join them but it has been 2 weeks and I haven't received the invitation from machinima. I emailed my recruiter and he told me to wait. Before I signed the contract, he told me that it would only take 2 days for the invitation to be sent to me.

My channel has approximately 120k monthly views and 1300 subscribers in total. I think I am qualified to be with Curse.

Machinima sounds really attractive to me due to their size and reputation but Curse offers 90/10 which is great.

So should I continue wait for machinima or sign up with Curse.

I already signed the contract for one year with machinima, is it okay to just ignore it and apply for other network ?

Thanks.

When I read this thread title I thought you meant "Machinima is great! Or is it a curse?" :D But yeah, it really does depend the type of contract you have signed to. Have you agreed to upload to Machinima's channel? Weigh up the benefits and how it will affect your earning and views. I mean if you have to upload to their main channel, it may be washed away under all the other content they upload :-)

Watch this vid, may shed some light on some previous experience a popular YouTuber had:

All dependant on personal experience though :) Go with your instincts! Good luck!

Nope. Do not "just ignore it." You have legal obligations to Machinima.

That said, you're welcome to explore your options within the confines of that contract. Has it actually been finalized? Is it actionable? What are your outs? You may want a lawyer to investigate, but whatever you do needs to be within the law.

You may want to apply w/ Curse before trying to break ties with Machinima. It would stink to leave Machinima only to get rejected by Curse. The flip side of that is that these MCNs really aren't that big, they do talk to each other, and pulling moves like the one you're thinking of making could land you on the sh*t list with both of them.

I can't tell you which network will ultimately serve you better, but I can tell you it's a little late to have these second thoughts.

I'd suggest Machinima. With their awesome contracts, support and CPM's you can't go wrong. (/sarcasm)

OP, Curse is the obvious choice.

Was that a mis-type?

Anyone notable that's with them is wishing they arn't.[DOUBLEPOST=1395600009,1395599770][/DOUBLEPOST]

It's not so black and white, neither legally or illegally.

Illegally
Would Machinima really bother going after a channel of his size? not really.

Legally
Did his term start with them one he signed the contract or does it only start once he links.

Yeah, these are some things to consider, but I don't feel right encouraging OP to do something illegal because he might not have to face the consequences. Machinima probably has a standard operating procedure for events like this, which may or may not involve cutting their loses and moving on.

I'm inclined to believe the important part of the transaction is having a legally binding contract between both parties, as that contract probably has a line in it that obligates OP to link his channel.
