I've Got It
so to all you other youtubers that use natural lighting what are you doing now it's getting darker?

I do eventually want to buy lighting but where we live now there is just not the room.

Any advice? X
 
I use my a wall light, natural light isn't good because you cant determine it will look the same all the time.
 
Softboxes are really cheap on ebay, Plus they fold down for easy storage when your not using them :)
You could also try table lamps, like ones you have in your house just take of the shade and place it behind your camera, could help alot :)
 
Still haven't really figured out any good lighting techniques yet :(, will probably have to look into those wall lights or soft boxes. I used natural light up until now and I just have to try and avoid doing videos at night, the problem is that I have college during the day and by the time I get home it is dark so I'll have to find some way around that.
 
I have a 9 month old baby boy so during the day can be really difficult well pretty much impossible as I am looking after him when I'm not at work myself.
When you say they fold up really small how small is that because I have seen soft boxes and the shade on them is pretty big. I literally have no room waiting to move at the moment. Maybe I will try the lamp!? :-/
Natural light has been acceptable until now xx
 
I'm filming with natural light for my Youtube channel, but at my work I've been using all sorts of lamps, mostly daylight lamps. I'm waiting on moving as well so I can use the third floor of my house as a small studio <3

Theres smaller soft boxes that have a height and width of about 30 centimeters folded out. They won't cost you much.

You can also just use a few ordinary house lamps. You could also change the bulbs of those to a daylight bulb instead of the more yellow light that they usually make. Just make sure the fitting is the same.

@Stike96 The basic set-up requires 3 lights. One key, one fill and one highlight/hairlight. You put 2 lights on the front of the subject and one in the back.

Thats how I light at my work and I think that brings really nice looking results.

mine folds down completely, and the stand shortens so i can easily store in under my bed of even in the back of my waredrobe
then when i want to use it i just undo it and plug it in :)
 
In my opinion, natural lighting can be the best lighting! Just do it at the peak of day where there isn't much lighting angle change.
If you don't have that, you can buy some cheap lights off amazon for probably under $100.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look at some online today or tomorrow to add to my wish list :).
