Lighting Help

I need a little bit of advice please.

Im looking at a cheap way to improve my lighting as I have to record most of my content at night (trust me three screaming kids will ruin any video)

what are the cheapest options available to me.

I was thinking about a couple of desk lamps but wont the light be real harsh??

Any Advice will be most welcomed.

Thanks

I was about to post the same question tonight and was thinking the same simple setup. Couple of lamps with shades on them but was always wondering about placement?

Yea I dont want to create the effect you get when you place a torch under your chin lol.

I've seen guys state that paper over a desk land to soften the light works well but its the amount and where to place them I am confused by. My latest video is dark and I want to sort it out lol before I record the next one.

I have had a similar problem to yourself. I film all my videos when my daughter is in bed. In my early videos its very dark to the point where the video quality was pretty bad. I bought myself a couple of desk lamps from ikea and attempt to implement a very simple 3 point lighting technique:

(search for 3 'point lighting' for some good tutorials).

I still haven't cracked it, but my videos look better lit and a higher quality

The cheapest would be to get some 1K Watt lights from your home improvement store put they produce quite some heat. I use a YN-160 LED light for my videos.

Looks nice if so
