Life Over YouTube

KBsVlog

A Family Vlogger
I'm just gonna cut to the chase, I work a lot for a living. I've been working a lot more now than ever. 6 12hr/days. Have to make a living somehow right? I recently just relaunched my channel about 3, 4 weeks ago after 9 months. I like the start but during the weeks when I work, I can't get on much to maybe self promote and/or socialize with others. It's even rough getting things edited at some points because I'm so exhausted, but motivation keeps me going and I keep striving even when I feel like I've lost motivation from something I enjoy doing.

I see people have more time in their hands to be able to maintain their channel where as for me, I can barely put a video out let alone meet new people and see others' creativity. Which puts me to be able to put out 1 vlog a week which makes me feel like it's more challenging to get noticed because of the things I can't do. It gets extremely frustrating not being able to enjoy a hobby.

How do you guys adapt to this? Do any of you have any same similarities if not all?

I have similarities, but at the moment I work 34 hours a week working Nights.
So I sleep most of the day time.
That's going to increase late November and all of December to around 50 hours a week because I'll be covering someone.
I also have 2 young children to look after, a wife to talk to and a pretty hectic party life in my social time. So after all that and then 2-4 hours at the gym a week I only really get 1 day to film in and any spare time to edit! Yeah Real Life gets busy Real Quick! I Understand Bro!

I should be dropping hours a little bit by next month but anything can happen. I also have 2 kids but they don't live me. I'm a part time dad so during the week, I only see my boys for about an hour a week because of how late I work an then the driving distance between where I work, where I live and where they live. So it literally puts a strand on things during the week. Glad I'm not alone.

The same situation. We filmed a movie Saturday and I edditied it Sunday. But I couldn't find 2 hours spare time to add Japanese subtitles . Now this movie stays idle on my hard drive. I will try to finish it today after work but not sure... (oh yeah also two kids here my wife also works full time so we must share the duties at home) :)

Back in 2010-2012, I did YouTube. I stopped because of college and a lack of interest. I started back recently and it was because I had more time/nothing to really do. Sure I make music all the time, but I wanted to do more than just that. YouTube has to be treated as a hobby. Like, if life gets busy, then you compromise and make a balance in your life to do both. It's all about having a schedule and prioritizing it.

Both my husband and I have a full time job outside of youtube. I'm a teacher so at home I also have to grade papers, make lesson plans ..I also sponsor 3 after school clubs so I also stay late to help the kids...and take care of my son at home. My husband's job is just as busy...he have to work also in the weekend most of the time because projects being due.and out on business trip quite often ..It's hard we know. We don't have time to socialize with our friends like we used too but Youtube is something that we enjoy doing so we make time and prioritize it into our lives to make it work!!!

I work around 60 hours a week. It's hard to find time to do YouTube stuff when I come home drained and ready for bed. I never seem to accomplish as much as I want for my YouTube channel when I have a break from work. I've learned that going somewhere else helps me get editing done. Sometimes I edit outside (in the shade so I can see the screen..) if it's a nice day, or go to a coffee shop. Going somewhere seems to trick my brain into thinking I'm not just sitting at my computer practicing how to become a hermit. By going outside of my apartment, I've also met lots of people who are curious about what I'm doing. They are fun to talk to. ^-^

For me it gets a bit tricky at times to fit everything in, there was a point in time where the misso was getting really annoyed that I was staying up late every night to edit videos and play games.
It was at about this time that I decided I should make a schedule & stick to it to keep everyone happy xD

I found that by making a bit of a schedule & trying to adhere to it made me not become sidetracked when given that time that I had.

My boy's mother use to get annoyed as well back when we were together. I'd be up all night an then sleep my weekends away. I tried sticking to a schedule an that only last for so long

Yeah i think im also gonna start going to a coffee shop as it can be more quiet. Sometimes being at home sidetracks me a lot. But even trying that will almost be a challenge because of working most of Saturday, then the things im suppose to get done on Saturday goes to Sunday. It really is rough.

What kind of music do you make?

I'm in the same boat. I work 40 hours per week and put in 5 hours per week working out. At the moment, I only post 1 video per week. Most of my videos are filmed on weekends and I try to film as many videos as I can in a weekend. I always make sure I have a few weeks of content filmed and edited that way I'm able to take some weekends off.
