Judged for being YouTuber?

Yeah, my friends mocked me for it a bit when they found out. At first it bothered me, but they stopped and then nobody cared about anything anymore.

As long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.

One of the favorite pastimes of human beings is judging others. Best to not give a f**k (as along as you aren't hurting anyone) and do what makes you happy. The folks who are still around after are potentially some good friends to have.

I had that at the start, I wanted to build an audience abroad like america and UK but one of my friends found one of my videos and shared on Fb where everyone else was, got the p**s taken out of me but overtime people started to actually to enjoy my content and my sub count jumped quite a bit so it may not be a bad thing, embrace it just go with it whether they take the p**s or not

My friends have been supportive if anything. I think no friend should give you a huge amount of grief over what you do on YouTube. It's your hobby, not theirs. They are however entitled to some griefing though, that's what friends are for! ;]

I take alot of pride in being a youtuber. There's nothing any outsider could say that could change that. I do this for me and my subs not them. Let them hate, I think its cute.

You'll always get people thinking it's odd. YouTubers like Emma Blackery have said that people ask 'when's she going to get a real job' and she does it for a living!

People at work initially took the mick a bit but I don't really care. I don't do it for them (plus if they've seen them - it's free views!)

So far from my friends I have gotten nothing but support. It is how I present it to them that they tend to root for me rather than put me down.

I'm 20 going to be 21 in August. It is the age we are expected to have a goal in life and have our entire life planned out. I am 'studying' to be a doctor for no reason other than the fact I don't know what else to do with my life. I realized not too long ago that my dream is to become a youtuber. It's a big task and no guaraantees, but isn't that how everything is in life?

For the first time in my entire life I have an ambition and dream to fight for. I've spent too much of my life following what people/society has expected of me and not enough time doing what I want. It's the best feeling ever finding what you want to do and not aimlessly living.

Ever since then I've spent everyday working on my youtube channel. It's fun, boring, hard, time consuming, rewarding, difficult, and everything in between. I am PROUD of my work and you should be too. Never be ashamed of what you put your heart into.

I don't have the courage to tell my parents about my ambition. I know though if I can tell them with the conviction I have been on my vlogs and on here they will support me.

Good luck to you and everybody to their goals and future endeavors!

Lots of good advice above. Criticism is going to happen from people you know and strangers with this field. Just try to ignore things people say to tear you down and recognize when people are offering something constructive. And focus super hard on the good stuff because the nice stuff will propel you forward.

Keep on truckin little engine! :D
