I've Returned a Failure c

I tried to make my first commentary/let's play and I couldn't do it, I was too nervous! The mic got to me and I lost what I was going to say v.v

And this failure came after hours of me messing with different screen capturing programs! Couldn't get OBS or FRAPS to work for the life of me! Settled on Shadowplay... I could have used that time in homework, I've got piles of it.

Any advice in mic shyness? DX I think part of it is a fear of other people in my dorm hearing me speak...

(And I'm sorry for the random c in the title but I can't seem to edit that. My phone posted this early in me T.T)

speak has if no one's listening, try to remove the mental block you have, that's what i had to tell people to do in my drama group and it seemed to work

Dude, never be too hard on yourself, you have to remember even the best have had issues like this, its a minor spec in what could be great, like every actor, athlete & musician, practice makes perfect, just keep doing it and keep doing you and it will become second nature!
All the best

Practice. Just keep doing it, and every time it will come more and more naturally. Most importantly, don't give up!

I kinda felt the same way at first, when I'd go to hit record I'd get little butterflies in my stomach. So what I'd do when I was gaming for fun I'd record it and commentate. These video's would be trash but they were practice. It does take time to get used to basically rambling on for 10-20min but being able to aim it at the game not just nonsense. I did this for a while, around 50 20min video's. Knowing I wasn't uploading them gave me the freedom to try saying things and play around with the commentary to see what I thought may or may not work.

Don't feel like you have to upload right away. Record some, edit them. Get used to that, find what settings / programs work best for you. Having technical difficulties during recording is a huge deterrent too. So if you nail down the basic functions of it, it leaves you to be you and to enjoy what your doing.

Don't worry about your dorm mates, weirder stuff is going down on the same floor then a guy talking to himself!

I had an opposite problem, because I was stressed when making public presentations (in real life) and decided to practice on Youtube. This gave me experience and I never forget what I gotta say now.

From my viewpoint practicing with the mirror is useless, I'd better do it in front of the audience, but it's your choice.

Tip I discovered: do not know what to say? make a break in your speech, will give more pathos to the words (usually) and help you recover

Thanks guys, you're all so cute! Lol, I didn't mean to sound so negative, I was just disappointed that I couldn't get right into it after finally getting everything working and buying a fancy-ish mic because at that point it was only me holding me back. Like I was real excited to start Youtubing but maybe I just need some practice first, when my room in my suite is empty. Thanks for all your kind words, it means a lot. I'll just keep at it until I am able to post something I'm relatively proud of. I just hope that's sooner rather than later because I really can't wait to get started! :p

Yeah, I actually am really bad at making public presentations, it kills me here in school! My whole body starts shaking and I go on autopilot. And I was sort of hoping doing commentary would help with that, tho it isn't nearly as bad as when there's actual people around watching me speak or whatever.
