Is Movie Maker REALLY That Bad For Just Starting Off?

Okay, I can already tell most people are going to be saying yes because even I know it is a rather bad editor, however when you're just starting out is it really a bad choice? I have Vegas Movie Studio 9, but it won't let me edit my gaming videos (it really only lets me edit minecraft videos but that's pretty much it) so I went to movie maker as a last resort, and even though it doesn't do everything I would like it to do, it gets the job done.

Overall, what I'm asking is whether or not I should keep using movie maker since I'm still just starting up my channel, or if I should switch now to a more advanced editing software.
 
I used windows live movie maker for the longest time and I set it to 1080p, now even though this isn't the best software out there it isn't also the worst. But it is a decent program to use for basic editing, but if you want to add webcams, easy video spliting, effect, etc. Then I would recommend going with a different program such as sony vegas (which I use now) or Adobe premiere.
 
For very basic editing, it's fine. In fact, I still use it to edit my basic screen recorded tutorial videos and it does everything I need for those sort of videos.
 
If I remember right you can't do any overlays and its more difficult to cut than professional programs, but honestly if you don't want to (or can't) spend the money, then there's nothing wrong with it!
 
It's fine honestly, I started off with windows move maker and now I'm onto after effects and premiere pro, it's great for starting off, really simple and easy to use :) I've seen people make some great stuff with it, as they say it's not the program it's the person the magic lies behind :D
 
As many people say, use what gets the job done and if its working okay for you then thats great, if not then I would change to something better but only if you want to and need to :)
 
Its very, very basic. You really want to pop out the best quality video's, especially if you do gaming video's. Definitely not recommend for gaming channels.
 
It is really basic.. I've been using it since I started. My computer is a POS and can't run anything that's more complicated. :( But overall, it's not that bad.
