Is it a good idea to create a video series?

Hey everyone, Kevin here, I post gaming content on my channel. Up until now I've pretty much just been posting random gaming videos but Lately I was thinking that if I had a couple of series going it might lead to more subs and views. Just as an example I could have a review series where I review a game every Wednesday or another series where I post a call of duty commentary every Sunday. What are people's thoughts on that?
 
I find when other channels have specific series, it helps me to understand what to expect before I watch that video. Total Biscuits WTF series for example, I know full well what his intending to do with that video and therefor I can make the decision as to whether or not I want to watch it quickly.

It might help you build a viewer base who particularly like that style of content.
 
Ok thanks Soopy. How many vids a week should I aim for? I've heard that having a larger library of videos can lead to more subs and views but I'm not really sure how that works. I'd really appreciate you or someone else explaining this to me. Thanks.
 
That's the magic question I guess. I have been trying to one a day or one every other day. If you upload to frequently you might cannibalize views from other video's. Too little and you might lose the audience. You'll need to strike a balance.
 
I somewhat like your vids Kevin, i havnt subscribed yet though, Do some simple game reviews, or reviews of the games your currently playing at the moment, Start up a small, gaming series (Free to play) on the computer maybe and try that, most people want to see different games in the channel also, but dont do everything at once, for me example - Im a World of Warcraft PC gaming channel, im going to have atleast 20 videos of world of warcraft stuff before I possibly get a different series going, interact with your subscribers and get them to recommend a game for you to play that they would like to see etc. (Or even pick a top 3 games youd have on your channel and let people on the forum or subscribers interact with you and tell you what would be the best one.

These are just my ideas, they could be crappily wrong but still. Good luck, :bounce:
 
Series can help gain more knowledge on your subscribers. "What do they like?" "How long should the video be for the maximum Watch Time?" "What are my subscribers wanting to see from my channel?"

Also, to answer your when should I post a video question: You should make a schedule and let that schedule be known to your subscribers so that they know when a video will be coming out. So that they will come to your channel at those times to watch your videos :)

I don't think there is a "Wrong" way to do it. Just your way.

I tend to follow my own little trend. I've done a bunch of Horror games, now I've done a few space games. I'm not particularly partial to either genre, its just how its worked out. Variety is as important as stability really.
 
If you're a small channel, it might work for reviews or let's plays of different games, though I suggest to stay away from series' if it's bound to one thing like "Minecraft Series" or "Call of Duty Series".
 
Cheers for all the feedback guys. I think I might start a review series like I talked about. I'm going to take crayzecookie's suggestion into account and maybe post four or five gameplays of Thief. They won't be lets plays because I don't have the equipment to do live coms but maybe I might include few tips or interesting moments. Crayzecookie's vids actually inspired me to do a few shorter length vids as most of mine are around the 8-10 minute mark
