Is facecam important for let's play videos?

That makes sense. I remember a youtuber that switches their facecam off on some games, but I'm not sure if that is reason. It's definitely something I'll keep in mind.
 
its just personal choice really I do lets plays with a facecam (they are rubbish but i still do it haha) and i prefer watching lets plays with facecam, i get bored of watching if i can't see the persons face, i watch a lot of horror lets plays (as i'm too scared to play them myself) and i personally enjoy being able to see the persons face as it takes some of the fear away especially if they are absolutely hilarious while playing, the main people i tend to watch is markiplier and jacksepticeye.
 
I consider it be personal choice. There are plenty of youtubers who don't but have become super famous over time without it. H20Delirious, Vanoss, and Cryaotic are just a few examples. Some will say it helps with interacting with your audience and creates a more personal depth to your content. But again it's completely up to you.
 
Here's a question: what about the following scenario? I have a webcam, yes, but I'm not a very animated person, so to speak.
I've been told I give out serial killer vibes with my, usually, very little moving face.
Also, I occasionally vlog, which already revealed my face. Would it still be effective in this situation?
 
For "Lets Play" type of videos I would recommend using a facecam. Since they are live commentary, you will probably not talk 100% of the time, so your reactions could be the filler. Also, it would be pretty boring to see gameplay and have no one talking.
 
With my videos I've just had commentary. Though recently I've started to use a facecam in the videos to add more personality to the videos. I feel like for me, using only my voice made my videos seem a little one dimensional, whereas now that I've added a facecam there's facial expressions, a face to my name, etc.
 
I feel like face cam is not necessary, but it's awesome to put a face to the voice I am hearing! I think I am more likely to watch a video if I can see someone and how they react on camera when doing whatever they may be doing.
 
Some people love it on let's plays, others hate it. I think it's just a preference thing with your audience! Some people only like it on horror let's plays too, which makes sense to me. So really it's just if you want to do it or not. I've asked this a bunch of times before myself because I'm too shy to use it on my let's plays, and I wasn't sure if it would hurt my channel but everyone's answers is always "just a preference thing"
