let me hand out some knowledge. a knowledge bomb if you will, or perhaps a free knowledge flavoured ice cream (no idea why i am talking like this)
both are perfectly fine. both can be very successful. the first thing to consider is do you feel comfortable with a facecam?, if no, then you should never use a facecam because your uncomfortableness will come across to the viewers.
the question to ask yourself is what you want to achieve. using a facecam adds a little more personality to the video and takes away a small amount from the game. if the focus of your channel is more about the game you play, then no cam is totally fine
if, however. you want your channel to be about you (even if its a gaming channel) you want subs that will join because your making a video about a game they like. but then watch your videos on other games because they are interested in you, then you are better off using a facecam, because that just adds to the personality, and makes people more interested in you, your reactions etc
for me personally. i am not using a facecam. but i have always planned to introduce one at some point (sorting out a green screen and fun stuff like that at the moment) so i can make people fall in love with my personality (it sure won't be my looks. i look like the backend of a bus) and therefore watch all of my content and not just the games they love
